The Paris Salon was founded by Rebecca Dolinsky in April 2015 in one of the covered passages of the Caffé Stern. Women involved with the arts met on Thursday mornings, exchanged ideas, collaborated, and many projects grew organically from these weekly meetings. In 2018, Mercedes Gertz visited the Salon, and soon, groups were born in Los Angeles and Mexico. In order to build bridges between the cities, the idea of The Box Project emerged. The metaphor of the box triggered many conversations and associations. The Salonistas decided to use matchboxes to give light to the new, and burn what is no longer needed; fire as renewal. Each artist created her own matchbox.
